Dendropsophus sp? | Scinax "sp. 2" (Hylidae)
« on: Sat, 30 December 2017, 01:18:02 PM »
Hello,

I found this small frog near a stagnant creek at the end of the dry season on the savanna near the airport of Suriname.

It might be a juvenile, but any ideas of what species?

Hi,
this is an undescribed species of Scinax. We used to call it Scinax sp. 2 in FG. this is an interesting record for this locality.
Cheers
Antoine

I think this species has been described as S. ruberoculatus now. See Ferrão, M., de Fraga, R., Moravec, J., Kaefer, I. L., & Lima, A. P. (2018). A new species of Amazonian snouted treefrog (Hylidae: Scinax) with description of a novel species-habitat association for an aquatic breeding frog. PeerJ, 6, e4321. Can someone confirm this?
