Yellow fruits on granite plateaus | Ximenia americana (Olacaceae)
« on: Thu, 29 March 2018, 04:35:47 PM »
Who can help to ID this plant? It is a shrub of about 4 meters height that grows in the full sun on granite plateaus in the interior of Suriname (Fredberg, in this case). The fruits are a bit smaller than those of mombin plum / mope (Spondias mombin). The fruit is a drupe with a thin layer of sour pulp which might be edible with lots of sugar.  I did not see any flowers.

Thanks, Auke  :)

But here it is : Ximenia americana (thanks to the spiny branch on your second picture !).
