Plant ID | Drymonia cf. serrulata (Gesneriaceae)
« on: Sat, 30 June 2018, 12:08:18 AM »
Hello!

Another plant for which I'd like an ID. Found on the Brownsberg in Suriname where I've seen several specimens. The brightly colored underside of the leaves should make it easy, but I've not been able to find the ID yet. They like to grow against tree trunks.

Cheers, Auke

Crenate margins of the leaves make me think of Drymonia serrulata.

Thank you. I'll put that name with a "cf." as my specimen has a green stem and leaves which are almost entirely red on the underside. Oddly enough I now know two specimens of the photographed species on the Brownsberg, while it is absent on the two species lists I have for that area. I guess those lists must be far from complete if your ID is correct. The only Drymonia mentioned on those lists is definitely something else.

Cheers, Auke :)
