Nymphidium mantus? | female Nymphidium aurum (Riodinidae)
« on: Tue, 17 March 2020, 06:06:00 AM »
This one looks like Nymphidium mantus (http://butterfliesofamerica.com/L/t/Nymphidium_mantus_a.htm), but distribution says Costa Rica & Venezuela & Brazil (so not necessarily the Guianas). I also found it on http://buttmoth.org/PAPILION/nymphidium.htm and on Google I found a picture of a stamp of 'Guyana' with Nymphidium mantus on it (https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/ATapUFOJQW2NPbmFkFJRzRjOZsMc6_H40txnlHoA2ibOwhnHNkQAS2M/), so I guess it should be around?
I would appreciate correction or confirmation!
Smiles,
Klaas

According to what I find, Nymphidium mantus should have much more blue. Based on my literature, your specimen is likely a female of N. aurum.

Cheers, Auke :-)

Thanks, Auke! In the mean time I had already changed it myself to Nymphidium baeotia W.C. Hewitson 1853.

I will look into it later.
