The Snail Kite & The Mokomoko plant
« on: Sat, 14 February 2015, 03:55:46 PM »
Good afternoon,

In an earlier post this week, Auke was relating some very interesting information about the Helicopis cupido cupido, first identified by Vie, see Auke's post in the butterfly section in Beautiful and Intriguing. It would seem that this female Snail Kite also finds the Montrichardia arborescens, locally referred to as the mokomoko plant, to be useful as a perch. This image was taken in March 2013 from the Weg naar Zee road near the coast.
