Hello there,
Could you help me identify this Orthoptera species, very common in French Guiana, in forest understorey.
Thanks  :)

Hi Olivier, nice photo! This is definitely some cricket (family Gryllidae). I don't know the genus though. Hopefully some other members can chip in.

Thanks for the lead Auke !
I am now almost sure the species is Eneoptera guyanensis (http://www.americaninsects.net/o/eneoptera-guyanensis.html).
It seems to occur only in French Guiana...

Seems like a pretty good guess! There's also an Eneoptera found in Suriname (E. surinamensis), but that one appears to have different venation of the wings. Still, I think we would need an expert for confirmation of the ID.

Cheers, Auke

This is clearly Eneoptera. The colouration (dark with orangish on hind femora) suggests that it is E. guyanensis or a closely related new species. Where is it from ? E. surinamensis is lighter. Hope it helps. Tony

Also I have photographed Eneoptera in French Guiana (close to border with Suriname) ... chances to be IDed? And in general I have photographed some Orthoptera, if there are chances to receive a name will post them :) .
